Traditionally, Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family, eat tons of food, and enjoy the company of those you love at home. Some, however, would rather be out and about instead of being cooped up inside. For those, we put together a list of events happening this Thanksgiving.

VFW Turkey Trot

What: The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5350 are hosting a 5K turkey trot. Participants can run or walk and there will be a timer, but there’s no rush.

Where: Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach. The start and finish line will be located near the entrance at the walking lady.

When: Registration and check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. The trot will begin at 9 a.m.

Thanksgiving Weekend at the Southampton Inn

What: Claude’s restaurant at the inn is serving its “best of the best” breakfast, and staff will be around to help guests staying at the inn to make reservations for Thanksgiving dinner at local restaurants.

Where: Claude’s restaurant at the Southampton Inn.

When: Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Happy Hour at Southampton Publick House

What: Head to this local favorite bar for beer, wine, and drink specials, plus half-off wings.

Where: Southampton Publick House on Jobs Lane.

When: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Live Music by Alfredo Maret at Lulu Kitchen & Bar

What: Every Thursday, there is live music by Alfredo Maret, a Latin singer/songwriter who often plays by himself but sometimes with others.

Where: Lulu Kitchen & Bar in Sag Harbor.

When: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Wings of Fire Challenge at Townline

What: The Wings of Fire Challenge consists of a person eating seven of the restaurant’s ghost pepper wings in seven minutes—but they also have to take on a seven-minute “burn period” after they’ve finished eating, where they cannot eat or drink anything except beer. Winners get their name and photo on the Wall of Fame and don’t have to pay for the wings or beer.

Where: Townline BBQ in Sagaponack.

When: 11:30 a.m.

What: Thanksgiving dinner buffet served at Coast Kitchen in Montauk. Adults will pay $29.95, children over six years old will cost $15.95, and children under six years old eat for free.

Where: Coast Kitchen at the Montauk Yacht Club.

When: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
