Summer is winding down, and it’s time to get back in the swing of things. The weather will soon dwindle down to cool, fall temperatures and students will return to school and hit the books. And, if you haven’t been doing your summer reading, maybe this is a good time to start catching up.

We’ve mapped some of the best bookstores in the Hamptons so you can get your school books, catch up on some reading, or just enjoy a place that’s peaceful and quiet.

Located in the village, this bookstore has best selling new books, rare books, collectible first editions, and signed books.

Burton's Book Store

Technically, Burton’s isn’t in the Hamptons. Located on Front Street in Greenport, Burton’s may be small but it has a ton of books. And if you can’t find a book, let them know and they’ll order and ship it.

Right in Sag Harbor, this bookstore was founded in 1980. This year, they brought back the Moby-Dick Marathon.

Harbor Books not only has lots of books to choose from and a tea station with brewmasters, but also cats that stick around and keep good company.

Harper’s is both a bookshop and a gallery in East Hampton. They have rear photography, art, and literary books. They host shows and exhibits year-round.
