Eight months and a price reduction later, the 19th-century home designed by Joseph Greenleaf Thorpe has found a buyer and a contract has been signed under the most recent $8.95 million asking price.
After just three months available for sale, the original Grey Gardens carriage house has seen its first price cut and is now available for $8.95 million.
One of the properties was at one time the home of Phyllis Newman, a Tony Award-winning stage actress, and her husband Adolph Green, who co-wrote the iconic Singin’ in the Rain.
It was mentioned that the chimney bricks will be reused, the home will be put back in its original place on the property, and the original wainscoting will be kept for reuse.
Owner Sally Quinn purchased the property from Big and Little Edie back in 1979 with her late husband, Ben Bradlee. The couple spent $220,000 on the estate itself, and ended up putting almost $600,000 into restoring the structure.
