The Long Island Railroad will be expanding service during commuting hours in the hopes that it will help ease morning traffic in the Hamptons, reports News 12. The South Fork Commuter Connection will begin service on Monday, March 4.
Three new times have been added to both the eastbound and westbound timetables, so commuters heading east can now get a train into the Hamptons by around 7 a.m or 9 a.m. This new service has not impacted the entire Montauk Branch, but rather all the East End stops from Speonk to Montauk.
From the Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, and Amagansett/Montauk LIRR stops, passengers can then take a shuttle to nearby destinations in each town.
A single fare, one-way ticket will cost $4.25, which will allow passengers to take both the train and the shuttle service.
