Once the humble abode that famed photographer Richard Avedon called home, this oceanfront estate in Montauk could be your Hamptons retreat this summer for $495,000.

If you’re not going to be out for the entire season from Memorial Day to Labor Day, shorter rental periods are available as well. To rent out the place for June will cost you $125,000 while renting for the month July is listed for a higher $175,000. To stay here from July to Labor Day will be $375,000, or from August to Labor Day for $200,000.

Built in 1980, the 3,500-square-foot shingled home is host to five bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms. Features of the renovated structure include wood floors, ocean views throughout, and a large eat-in kitchen with lots of storage and up-to-date stainless steel appliances. Tenants will also have access to a caretaker’s residence, a pool, and a one-bedroom studio guest house on the 3.2-acre property.

A staircase leads residents down to a private ocean beach.

The photographer owned the property for 20 years before selling it as part of a larger 7.5-acre compound in 2000. The whole compound went for $9 million, and according to PropertyShark records, this oceanfront house accounted for $6 million of the deal. Avedon later passed away in 2004.
