The stunning Bridgehampton estate at 70 Matthews Lane has just gone into contract after nearly two years on the market. In March of 2017, the new-build became available for sale with an $11.95 million asking price, which is what it was most recently listed for when the contract was signed last week.

Spanning nearly 12,000 square feet, the magnificent house was designed by the 2017 ICAA award-winning architect James Michael Howard in collaboration with Bobby Alpine. Features of the seven-bedroom, seven-bath house include 30-foot cathedral ceilings in the main living space, an eat-in kitchen with a 10-person breakfast nook, and a master suite with access to a rooftop terrace.

On the finished lower level, there’s a 16-person home theater, a bar, and a rec room with a fireplace. Meanwhile, the exterior offers mature specimen trees, a heated gunite pool and spa, a pool house with a half-bathroom, an outdoor fireplace, and a two-car garage.

The house was available fully furnished.

The 1.08-acre property was once the site of Kenneth Lonergan and J. Smith-Cameron’s Hamptons house. Lonergan is known for his work as a director and writer for films such as Gangs of New York and Manchester by the Sea, the latter of which won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2016. Smith-Cameron is an actress known for her role as Janet Talbot on Rectify. The Hollywood couple sold the property in 2015 for $3.7 million.

Located south of the highway, 70 Matthews Lane is approximately 2 miles north of the ocean at the end of Ocean Road, and about 1 mile south of Bridgehampton village shops and restaurants.

Brown Harris Stevens agent Martha Gundersen and Corcoran Group agent Gary DePersia represent the listing.
