We’d love to see this waterfront house renovated

This spacious fixer-upper in Hampton Bays would make a great project house, asking $1,199,000. It’s got a light-filled two-story living room with water views over Shinnecock Bay, an open floorplan, and a comfortable 3,180 square feet of living space.

With the right touch, this bayfront house could be transformed into a cozy contemporary East End retreat.

Originally built in 1991, the house probably hasn’t had any major renovations in the last 28 years, and most of the house is dated. The kitchen and bathrooms would need to be gutted and modernized, and the carpet in the main living space would probably be swapped out for some attractive hardwood. But we love what this house has to offer, and we’re interested to see what it would look like if the new owners decided to renovate rather than tear it down for a new-build.

The house has five bedrooms, three full bathrooms, sliding glass doors that lead outside, and an exterior deck. According to the listing, there are dock permits in place. Located at 8 Sun Court, the property spans 0.36 acres and has 58 feet of direct bulkheaded water frontage on Shinnecock Bay.

Brown Harris Stevens agents Martha Gundersen and Francis Fineo represent the listing.
