A Mediterranean villa with an octagonal pool in Southampton’s estate section asks $8.2M

When the pool was installed in the early ’90s, it was the first pool to exist at a private property in Southampton’s estate section

For the first time in nearly 50 years, the property at 76 Herrick Road in Southampton is on the sales market for $8.2 million.

Spanning 5,000 square feet, there are six bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms inside, a double-height entrance, a sunroom overlooking a multi-level terrace fountain, an open floorplan, and floor-to-ceiling windows. On the second floor, one will find the master suite and three guest bedrooms.

Built in 1926, the estate was actually an average Hamptons-esque traditional before the early ’90s when the owners decided to turn it into the Mediterranean style villa that it is now.

Upon installing the octagonal pool, the property would have the first pool to exist at a private property in Southampton’s estate section. More than 20 years after the updates and installation, in-ground pools are commonplace at south-of-the-highway Southampton properties.

The new owners also updated the exterior to have a Spanish style facade, the tiled roof, two fireplaces from France, the grand staircase in the foyer, and added a columned loggia out back that would connect the main house to the guest house.

Outside, the pool house has a bathroom and a living room, there’s patio space for exterior dining, and there’s a two-car garage.

Michaela Keszler from Douglas Elliman represents the listing.
