On Monday, we had readers try to guess what the listing at 28 Hildreth Avenue in Bridgehampton was on the market for. The votes were pretty split, but the home is listed for $4,995,000 under Sotheby’s International Realty agent, Sharon Stern, making about 22 percent of our readers correct.
On a half-acre of land, the totally renovated and like-new cottage spans 4,100 square feet with six bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and one half-bathroom inside. Interiors include a Rumford wood-burning fireplace, 22-foot vaulted ceilings in the living room, a sunroom, and a wet bar in the formal dining room. There’s also a chef’s kitchen with a butler’s pantry, a first-floor master suite in its own wing, and a second-level junior master suite.
A finished lower level provides more living space, radiant heated floors, and wine storage.
Outside, new homeowners will enjoy patios, a heated gunite pool, gardens, an outdoor shower, and a fire pit.
The property last sold in 2011 for $2 million, and about a third of our readers thought that it was still asking under $3.5 million after the renovations that brought the Bridgehampton home up to date. Another third of our readers low-balled it just a bit, thinking it was somewhere between $3.5 million and $4.5 million. Just 10 of our readers guessed that it was over $5.5 million.
But as always, we want to hear from our readers: What do you think the property should be on the market for? Do you think the $5 million will entice a buyer?
