While South Fork real estate is often pretty expensive, our northern neighbors on Shelter Island have lots of properties available for sale with lower asking prices. This gorgeous shingled farmhouse at 53 North Cartwright Road is just one example of the many great homes that are on the market for less than $1 million.

The renovated home is listed for $925,000.

Originally built back in the 1930s, the home offers over 2,000 square feet of living space, four bedrooms, and two bathrooms on nearly a full acre of land. The interiors host a brick fireplace in the living room, hardwood floors throughout, wood-beamed ceilings and skylights in the kitchen, and stainless steel appliances. Upstairs, there’s an ensuite master bedroom and a pull-down insulated attic for storage.

Other features include a finished basement and solar panels that reduce the home’s electric cost. French doors lead to the back deck. The exterior also has a covered front porch, gardens, a tool shed, and plenty of room for a pool.

According to the Zillow price history, the property sold in 2004 for $550,000. Gina Surerus from Corcoran Group Real Estate represents the current listing.
