A recently renovated, Mecox Bay-front home in Water Mill has just come on the market with an asking price of $8.95 million.

The cottage—standing a reasonable 2,600 square feet—has three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms on nearly a full acre of land. Built in 1972, contemporary touches to the interiors include white hardwood floors in the living room and white beamed cathedral ceilings in the kitchen and the adjacent dining room, which also has a fireplace.

While it’s undergone renovations, the home still needs a few updates here and there. Namely, the kitchen could benefit from up-to-date stainless steel appliances, new flooring, and maybe even a backsplash to give it some character.

We do love the French doors in the living room that open out to the exterior, as well as the private waterview balcony off the master suite.

Outside, there’s bulkheaded water frontage, a private dock, a waterside gazebo, and a pool.

If the existing home just isn’t giving new owners what they want, the listing claims that the property can accommodate a brand new 9,500-square-foot structure in place of the ’70s cottage.

In 2012, the property was purchased for $5.1 million. Saunders Real Estate agent, Terry Cohen, represents the current listing.
