The 118th U.S. Open will be held at Shinnecock Hills for the fifth time

The U.S. Open has been held at the iconic Shinnecock Hills Golf Course in Southampton four times in the past 118 years, the last time being back in 2004. Fourteen years later, the course is hosting the sporting event for the fifth time with events starting up next week on Monday, June 11.

Southampton Town has been preparing for the event for the past year (or more)—the LIRR has created a temporary train station at Shinnecock, a walking bridge has been erected over County Road 39 to get train passengers from the station to the course, and Tuckahoe Road was closed off earlier this week.

A one- or two-week rental in the Hamptons could cost a pretty penny because of the high demand, and lots of homeowners have taken up the opportunity to make some passive income during the sporting event.

So we want to hear from our readers: Are you planning on attending the event? If you’re coming in from the city (or elsewhere), how are you getting out to Southampton? Tell us in the comments what you’re anticipating for the week ahead.

The 118th U.S. Open will run from June 11 to June 17, with gates opening at Shinnecock Hills at 6 a.m. every day. Don’t think you’ll be making it this year? You’ll have the chance in 2026, when the course will be hosting the golf event for its sixth time.
