A cozy contemporary from the ’70s in East Hampton has just come on the market for $995,000 under Compass Real Estate agent, Bryan Midlam. While the interiors may not be suited for everyone’s design style—and we only get photos of the living room and an office—for under $1 million, this cozy home could make a great fixer-upper project to bring it into the 21st century.
The 1,400-square-foot home is set up in an upside-down floor plan, where the living and dining spaces are on the second level and the bedrooms are on the first level.
We can’t see the kitchen from the photos, but we can see it peaking through the door frame in the living room, and we’re guessing that since there aren’t any photos, it needs to be gutted. If the wall separating the kitchen and the living room isn’t load-bearing, the new owners might consider tearing the wall down to allow for a nice, wide open floor plan.
There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, a wraparound deck off the second floor, and hardwood floors throughout. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room bring the surrounding landscape inside the home.
The Compass listing does include a pool as an amenity, but we don’t see one, and it’s not mentioned in the description. But if it isn’t on the property, there’s over an acre of space to build one.
Unfortunately, being north of the highway and about two and a half miles from East Hampton village shops and restaurants—and nearly four miles from the ocean—doesn’t exactly make this location anything too special.
How do you think the home is priced?
