The historic Atterbury estate at 199 Coopers Neck Lane in Southampton sold in 2015 for $15 million after sitting on the market for four years. Way back in 2007, the home was listed for $24 million and eventually made its way down in price to $18 million, which was the last it was asking when it went into contract.
Just two and a half years later, the south-of-the-highway property hit the market for $18 million again, but this time with plans in place for a total renovation. After four months on the market, the Atterbury estate has seen its first change in asking price, now listed for $16.8 million under Bespoke Real Estate agents Zach and Cody Vichinsky.
Set on three acres of land in Southampton’s estate section, the massive 14,000-square-foot home was designed in 1910 by renowned architect, Grosvenor Atterbury. The structure hosts 11 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
The planned renovation—designed by architect Arthur Fraser—would expand the home to 15,100 square feet and incorporate high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and indoor-outdoor entertaining spaces. French doors would lead out to a heated gunite pool, new pool pavilion, new pool house, and a two-story three-car garage. There would still be room for a tennis court.
