Rent a restored ’70s beach house in Montauk for $55K this summer

While we all would love an oceanfront Hamptons beach house to spend our summer in, they can’t all be right on the water. But this south-of-the-highway hilltop Montauk home with water views is just a quarter-mile to the ocean and Gurney’s Resort—which to us, is close enough if those oceanfront homes are just not in your price range.

That’s not to say it won’t cost you, though. For the summer rental period between Memorial Day and Labor Day, this 1,800-square-foot home will leave a $65,000 dent in your wallet. If you’re looking for a shorter rental period this summer, this home could be yours in June for $10,000, in July for $25,000, or from August to Labor Day for $30,000.

The home has been totally restored since it was first built in 1973, and now features freshly stained walls and ceilings, wide plank floors, new bathrooms, a new kitchen, and a new roof. Outside, there’s no pool, but there’s an oceanview dining deck off the kitchen and living space.

Inside, we love the hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, and a spiral staircase.
