Earlier this week, we had readers guess the asking price of this 167-year-old whaling cottage in Sag Harbor village. Located at 115 Jermain Avenue, the home is asking $1,975,000—making most of our readers correct.
Nearly half of readers guessed correctly in the range of between $1.5 million and $2 million, while the next most-voted price was under $1.5 million. A quarter of people thought it was between $2 million and $3 million, but just one reader guessed it was over $3 million.
Originally built in 1850, the home still has period details from the construction 167 years ago—including wide plank hardwood floors, Dutch doors, two fireplaces, and the original windows and hardware throughout. The home has been renovated and now features a new kitchen with stainless steel appliances as well as a gunite pool outside, which was added last year.
In 1,700 square feet of living space, there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms between two stories. Inside, the living room has vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as French doors that open out to the exterior, where one will find a brick patio and palladium steps at the gunite pool.
