Reconstructed by Bates + Masi Architects, this 1835 Sag Harbor building that originally served as a church in the 19th century is now a modern, wide-open home listed under Compass Real Estate agent Lori Schiaffino.

After listing in July for nearly $11 million, the home has just received its first price change since coming on the market with Compass. Earlier this week, $2 million came off the listing and the home is now available for $8,995,000—but this isn’t the first time that this modern has been listed for sale.

The property sold in 2013 for $1 million, and when it came on the market in 2015, it was asking a confident $23.5 million before coming down to $19.5 million. Since then, the price has still taken cuts.

Located at 48 Madison Street, the 15,000-square-foot home is located in Sag Harbor village with close access to shops and restaurants, as well as historical and cultural sites such as the Whaling Museum and the Old Whalers Church.

On a half-acre of land, the home has six bedrooms and seven and a half bathrooms inside, as well as an indoor spa, lofted and double-height living spaces, wood-beamed ceilings, and an eat-in kitchen with open shelving. Double-height floor-to-ceiling windows can be found throughout the main living spaces.
