On Monday, we had readers try to guess the asking price of a recently listed 19th century whaling captain’s home in Sag Harbor village. Originally built in the 1820s, the home at 11 Howard Street has been restored and brought into the 21st century.
Listed for $4.25 million with Sotheby’s International Realty agent Ed Mulderrig, about 23 percent of our readers were correct in the poll. The category with the most votes was under $3 million.
In 2013, the property sold for $1.75 million and since then was totally rebuilt. During the renovations, a new foundation and a finished lower level was added.
Inside the 2,780-square-foot home, there are five bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, a gas fireplace, and period details throughout—including the original molding. Outside, there’s a heated gunite pool and patio space on a half-acre of land.
When we featured the home earlier this week, commenters weren’t crazy about the kitchen. But what do our readers think of the price, keeping in mind that a new foundation and a finished lower level was added to the home? Tell us in the comments.
