Welcome to Friday Open Threads, where Curbed asks readers to weigh in on topics of interest. Want to discuss something? Feel free to drop us a line.
The Hamptons is notoriously one of the most expensive areas to purchase real estate in the United States. In 2017, six of the 100 most expensive American zip codes were on the East End, and what’s considered inexpensive or affordable in the Hamptons is usually still pretty pricey in other parts of the country.
But aside from that, we want to hear from our readers: What’s the biggest challenge that Hamptons home buyers are facing right now? Recently, Curbed Detroit asked their readers the question, and it got us thinking about the challenges of home buying in the Hamptons market.
Are the challenges different for year-round residents than those looking to purchase a vacation house?
Have you been looking to buy a house? Are you a first-time home buyer, or have you purchased a Hamptons home before, and you’re now moving shop? What’s held you back from purchasing? Tell us your experience in the comments.
