Open thread: What’s your favorite local getaway when you need to escape the Hamptons?

We absolutely love the Hamptons—it’s a summer beach escape in the summer and an amalgamation of quiet beach towns come the fall. But we all need to get away from even the things we love the most, sometimes.

This can be especially true in the winter, when the days get shorter, the weather becomes dreary, and many of us are on the edge of our seats waiting for spring to come.

So we want to hear from our readers: What is the best place to escape to when you need to get away from the East End? Is it somewhere within arms length, like New York City?
