And some updates, of course

Back in April of 2014, Ask Curbed featured a question from a reader, which could basically be summed up as “What’s the deal with 55 Skimhampton Road?”

The question was, more specifically:

I just saw a listing for 55 Skimhampton Road, EH. It's listed sub $1.5 mil, south of the highway in East Hampton. Is this a great deal or am I missing something critical in all this?

At the time, the cottage was available for sale with an asking price of $1,445,000 with Corcoran Group Real Estate. Later that year, it sold for $1.17 million. Before that, it’d been featured on Curbed before when it went on the market at a different time in 2011.

Now, it’s back on the market with a $2 million increase, asking $3.34 million. The home still has 1,800-square-feet of living space located south of the highway, with three bedrooms and three-and a-half bathrooms.

Built in 1960, there’s an open floor plan, eat-in kitchen, and wood floors on the interior. Outside, there’s a bluestone patio and gunite pool.

There have been some updates since the last time it was on the market, which would explain the jump in price tag.

Here’s what it looked like when it was available for sale in 2011:

And here’s what it looks like now:

What do you think? Still a good deal?
