Ditch Plains is by far one of the most popular surf spots in the Hamptons. It’s been ranked as one of the best beaches (ever), and the nearby Ditch Witch provides the perfect fill after a day of surfing or hanging out at the beach.
Montauk is an East End surfer’s paradise, so Curbed found three homes in the area that are available for sale for under $1 million.

This 1980 ranch style home has three bedrooms and one-and a-half bathrooms in 1,063-square-feet on 0.17 acres. The home features an open floor plan, gas-burning fireplace, and new wood flooring throughout. Outside, there’s a deck and outdoor shower—which is perfect for a post-beach rinse.
The home sits south of the highway, but it’s not directly on the water. It will take less than 15 minutes to walk from here to Ditch Plains beach.
The home last sold in 2006 for $700,000 and went up for sale in January for $1,095,000. It is currently available for $999,000.

This house may be small—it’s only 1,000-square-feet with one bedroom and two bathrooms—but it recently underwent a full renovation, and it’s a two-minute walk from the bay. The home sits on the northern side of Montauk and isn’t oceanfront, but it will take less than five minutes to drive to Ditch Plains (or about 25 minutes to walk).
There’s a jacuzzi tub in the bedroom, and it’s on almost a full acre of land, so there’s room to expand or add a pool. The asking price is $950,000.

This upside-down house is less than a mile from Ditch Plains, and it would take less than 15 minutes to walk to the ocean. At 2,100-square-feet, it’s the largest house featured with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is no pool on the 0.61-acre property, but there is decking on two sides of the house and an outdoor shower.
The kitchen, living room, three of the bedrooms, and two of the bathrooms are on the top floor. The home has had some recent updates, including new cedar siding. The asking price is $999,000.
