And it’s right in the village

Sag Harbor is known for its whaling history and deep ties to sea-faring lifestyles. The town is home to the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum and even has several mentions in Moby-Dick.

So it’s rarely a surprise that when a Sag Harbor home goes up for sale, it very well could have belonged to a sea captain or been somehow a part of the rich whaling history of the town.

The home at 40 Hamilton Street was once a whaling cottage and is for sale at $1,250,000, reports Newsday.

The home was originally built in 1900 and maintains original details throughout including flooring and the door in the kitchen. The structure sits at 1,400-square-feet with two bedrooms and one-and-a-half bathrooms.

The living room features wide plank flooring and a fireplace, while the kitchen has black and white tile floors with shelving rather than cabinets—a trend that is on the rise in small spaces and often found in apartments.

French doors in the formal dining room lead out to the backyard. The property also includes beach rights.
