Historic Quogue home on the market for a year, price not moving

Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan’s home was listed last March

The historical Victorian home that was built in 1894 for Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan, affectionately known as “Slumberside,” was listed in March 2016 for $2.85M. There has not been a price cut, despite being on the market for nearly a year.

Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan is considered to be one of the most influential historical figures to have lived in Quogue. The 5,000-square-foot home sits on a one acre lot, and saw replacements to the cesspool, plumbing, roof, and heating in 2004.

The six bedroom, five-and a-half bath home has a heated pool, eat-in kitchen, library, pool house, private guest quarters (or legal apartment), and beach rights.
