People searching for a new home may find that purchasing a new construction has benefits that purchasing a previously lived-in home wouldn’t necessarily offer. In fact, Trulia conducted a survey in 2014 that found twice as many Americans prefer to purchase a new home over an existing home. For instance, one of the houses on this list isn’t quite finished yet, so a buyer could potentially purchase now and customize the home even further.

New constructions tend to be a bit more modern and may require less updating in the immediate future. However, they can also cost up to 20% more than an existing home, according to Forbes.
