Sag Harbor is unique on the East End for many reasons. One of those reasons is that the homes seem more likely to be renovated rather than torn down and rebuilt—especially compared to oceanside Hamptons neighborhoods, where we often see massive spec houses and waterfront mansions riddled with modern amenities.
We’re hoping to see a renovation on this adorable 700-square-foot home at 11 Grand Street in Sag Harbor’s historic district, which just listed under Douglas Elliman agent Michael Daly for $850,000.
Built in 1994, it certainly isn’t as old as many of the Sag Harbor homes that get renovated, which are often from the 19th or 20th centuries. But this adorable two-story home has a lot of potential.
There are wood floors throughout, although it’s worth mentioning that they match the blue-ish exterior, so we’re thinking that the new owner will probably want to take that color off. But if the color stayed, it might just work if the right design was utilized in the rest of the space.
The kitchen isn’t massive, but it has a lot of counter space given its size, and there’s a skylight for some extra natural light.
Upstairs, there’s also a skylight in what looks to be the master bedroom—though it’s not a proper master, as there is just one bathroom in the house. But if there’s space, we could see the future owner adding another bathroom to make it a proper second-story master suite.
Outside, there’s a detached garage and gardens in the backyard. The property is just 0.24 acres, but from the photos, it looks like a pool could fit in the back. Aesthetically speaking, the home isn’t in the best shape right now—but we’re thinking that it could be an adorable summer getaway or serve as cozy year-round living for a small family.
