The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that they will be repaving part of Montauk Highway this fall, reports Hamptons.com. The three-and-a-half mile section that will be repaved stretches from Knoll Road in Shinnecock Hills to Tuckahoe Lane in Southampton.

State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. also announced that in addition to the repaving, a new roundabout will be built at Toilsome Lane and Route 114 in East Hampton village. The capital funds for that project have been secured by Theile and Senator LaValle.

Southampton, East Hampton, Shelter Island, and Brookhaven Towns in the 1st Assembly District have all been approved to equally share a $500,000 sum of money used to repair local roads.

The news of this is coming after Governor Andrew Cuomo’s big announcement of a $5.6 billion plan to transform the Long Island Railroad in order to better suit the citizens of New York State, which includes an update of the East Hampton station house.
