Las Thursday, East End representatives from the Twin Forks discussed proposed service changes to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) with the hope to push for additional service for two eastbound commuter trains in the morning from Speonk to Montauk and an afternoon westbound commuter train from Montauk to Speonk.

The cost for these changes has not been pinned down just yet. In order to develop the long-term capital plan, State Legislators are expected to seek funding for a study, according to 27east

There is also hope for additional shuttle bus systems that would travel to and from South Fork and employment centers. The changes to the bus system could cost between $500,000 and $1 million per year, as reported by 27east. Half this amount would be funded by the state. The estimated start date for the new bus service is early 2018.
