Sean Avery and Hilary Rhoda’s remodeled cottage in Southampton Village Reduces Price

New, 3 comments

Price reduced to $1.89M

It’s rare to find a spanking new house replete with Gunite pool for under $2M in Southampton Village. This one was just reduced from $1.925M to $1.89M. The house started out life decades ago, but the new owners—Hilary Rhoda and Sean Avery—stripped it down to its studs. Only the footprint of the former structure remains.

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house, is an impressive hybrid of old (traditional exterior) and new (everything inside). Most notable are the new seamlessly flowing open layout and full-height, walkout lower level. The project is a collaboration between hockey star Sean Avery and East End builder Charles Gallanti, who have partnered on other such flips.

Not only is everything new, both materials and appliances are high end from the kitchen, which is outfitted with favorite Hamptons brands like Miele and Wolf to the raised seam aluminum roof (think: long lasting). The lower level, too often an afterthought, has been given a warm twist with stylish Chilewich BioFelt floor tiles.

Despite its small .20-acre lot, the south-facing backyard has a heated Gunite pool with a sunbathing platform, pool house, wood decking and lawn.
