This week has been full of all things equine on the East End with the Hampton Classic taking center stage in Bridgehampton. Despite foreboding forecasts, the weather held up and competitors were horsing around.
Riders Georgina Bloomberg and Jimmy Torano hosted a private luncheon at the Douglas Elliman chalet in support of a trifecta of horse charities, The Rider's Closet, Give a Buck, and Gallop NYC. We chatted with the gals from Gallop, and we learned that most people in the equestrian world have benevolent intentions. However, accomplishing altruistic goals is not necessarily intuitive or easily done. So, charities that team up really do make a difference.
Given our soft spot for killer housing in the Hamptons, we wanted to know what continually draws real estate giant Douglas Elliman to this event. Dottie Herman, President & CEO of Douglas Elliman, said, "Elliman has worked very closely with the equestrian community for many years and, as a firm, we believe it is essential to give back and to support the communities where we work and live. We are so honored to support these unique charities which are making great strides to help improve the lives of those facing some of life’s most difficult challenges."
