The interiors of this 5000 square foot home are really lovely: simple, elegant, and welcoming. Particularly nice is the stone fireplace in the kitchen, the skylit hallway, and the screened porch. There are five bedrooms and 5.5 baths in all. There’s just under an acre of very pretty gardens with a pond with waterfall and a gunite pool. And the location is very good. Asking price for all this is $9.5M.
Now the downsides: the front facade is very McMansiony, even though the stone chimney is attractive. The porch, the round window, the way the first thing you see are two attached garages: no bueno in our eyes. Another issue is the shape of the plot, which is kind of like a bow tie, with the pool area off to the side. Finally, the asking price seems like a reach, despite all the advantages: the property sold for $2.6M in June 2014. We’ll be interested in seeing how long this place takes to sell.
