Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber buy in Montauk

In Surfside

We’d known that actors Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber had bought in Montauk—we had reliable intel—after they put their Amagansett home on the market—but we didn’t know they’d purchased this place until the good folks at 27E informed us.

When we wrote about this property in March, when it hit the market, we were doubtful about several things: that dodgy leaf wallpaper, the enormous range hood, and the price. The asking price was $5.25M, and we thought for that, we'd expect more land and/or a bigger house.

Well, the Watts-Schreibers paid $5.4M, which goes to show how much we know. This property is not quite oceanfront--one house away--but still offers attractive oceanviews. It's in the Surfside part of Montauk, which is close to town, yet fairly untrammeled. The four bedroom, 4.5 bath house is stylish, with a good-sized kitchen with fireplace, a spacious great room, and a cozy den. The lower level is finished with a bedroom and a funky bathroom with pebbly tiles. Outside, the plot size is a half acre, which includes an attractive gunite pool.

Congrats, you two: and welcome to Montauk.
