Richard Gere Finally Sells Hamptons House

Last ask $36.5M

Gotta hand it to Corcoran agent Susan Breitenbach: she’s managed to sell two market laggards in double-quick time. First Lloyd Blankfein’s Sagaponack property, on the market since 2007, and now Richard Gere’s, on the market since 2013.

According to the New York Post, not only has Gere sold Strongheart, he got close to his new asking price of $36.5M, which he cut just a month ago. Back in 2013, the hilarious asking price was $65M; then the ask was shaved to a still-humorous $56M in spring 2014, and down again to $47M in late summer 2014.

Congrats to the new owners! You have a gorgeous property, on prestigious Actors Colony Road. Strongheart was built in 1902 but has been renovated and expanded since then, with two additional guest houses, an outdoor fireplace pavilion, and of course a tea house set in the middle of a pond in front of the coastline. In all, there are twelve bedrooms and twelve baths in 12,000sf set on 6.3 waterfront acres, with mature, pretty gardens. We love how unpretentious the place is, and we also adore how many outdoor seating areas there are to relax and enjoy the view. There's 300' of direct bay frontage, a 240' long private deep water dock, and a sandy beach, as well as a 60' pool and a basketball court.
