‘Devil in the White City’ Author Erik Larson Buys in Southampton

Nice buy for the author

This updated and rather attractive cottage in Southampton hit the market back in December. Nothing about the 0.46-acre property is huge, but the backyard is especially inviting. Tall shrubs and trees make for a lot of privacy, and there's a pool and plenty of decking for summer parties. Literary parties, we assume, because according to the Southampton Press, the property has just been purchased by Devil in the White City (a great book, by the way) author Erik Larson and his neonatologist wife Christine Gleason for $2.2M, $400K off the original asking price.

The house is 2200sf, with four bedrooms and three baths; we’d advise the Larson-Gleasons to invest in a new kitchen and a new bath. The suspended staircase is fab. Good buy, folks, and welcome to the Hamptons!
