A Quirky Modern Take on the Saltbox Near the Ocean in East Hampton

New, 6 comments

Too individual to appeal to buyers?

This interesting house was designed by Jacquelin Robertson to recall the vernacular saltbox home. We particularly like how the projecting wing with barn doors frames the view of the pool, though we’re not sure about the angles in the interior rooms.

The house is 4500 square feet with five bedrooms and five and one half baths; it’s set on 2.6 acres, which is just one property away from the ocean, making for stunning views. There isn’t a tennis court but there’s room for one, although it would spoil the rather nice rolling green lawn. Asking price is $15.95M, which seems pretty reasonable.
