This Second-Empire style home in Sag Harbor was built in 1865 by a clockmaker named Benjamin Hope. It's recently undergone a meticulous restoration inside and out, even down to the fishscale slate mansard roof.
The reclaimed marble fireplaces perfectly complement the age and style of the house. There's 3800 square feet of space over three floors, including a top floor that's a "media and entertainment suite with an adjoining outdoor deck and year round rooftop garden pool and fire pit." Nice! There's also a private eating area in the tiny garden off the modern, simple kitchen and a terrace off the master suite, which also features a dressing area. In all, there are three bedrooms and three and a half baths.
Asking price is $4.5M, which includes the furnishings. In the overheated Sag Harbor market, this sounds quite reasonable to us. Plus, the house is extremely convenient to downtown.
