BBCs all round! As long as "all" is fewer people than in years past. The owners of the property on which Cyril's Fish House in Napeague operates have agreed to limit the number of patrons at any one time and to modify the structures.

Last month, we reported that Cyril's had been issued a liquor license for this year from April 1 through Halloween, contingent on a valid certificate of occupancy. As most of you know, Cyril’s has been embroiled in controversy for years; May 3 is the date set for jury selection in a criminal trial in the East Hampton Town Justice Court against the owners. There’s also a civil lawsuit pending, all involving violations of the town’s building and zoning codes.

A plan to redesign the space has been sent to the East Hampton Town Planning Board for approval. According to the East Hampton Star, gone will be "the bar that faces Montauk Highway and 'other structures' such as a brick patio between the restaurant and the roadway." Also removed will be "the canopy, portions of the deck, and stone seating area on the western side of the building will be removed."

Seating will be limited to 62, 36 outdoors and 26 indoors, and there will be a 30 x 30 outdoor seating area, screened by shrubs.

In other news, the Tauk at Trail's End in Montauk is shooting to open for this season, but unfortunately, according to owner Michael Nasti, it's taking longer than expected. The full renovation of the spot is "moving well, on target for October," Mr. Nasti says. "A quick facelift for now, to open, is taking longer than expected, due to the permit process. "
