Grey Lady, a New England style seafood eatery with locations on Delancey Street in NYC and in Aspen and Nantucket, will be opening on West Lake Drive in Montauk by Memorial Day, in the former Harbor space. Grey Lady will serve fresh local seafood dishes like grilled flounder, bacon-wrapped scallops, lobster rolls, and chowder.
"Grey Lady" is a name for the Nantucket fog; owners Callum Mclaughlin and Ryan Chadwick are lifelong Nantucketers. If you think it's a perfect fit for Montauk, you're right. Quoted in Eater NY, Mclaughlin says, "I spent time in Montauk growing up and I want to get back to my roots.''
Other news: the Chinatown spot at 66 Newtown Lane in East Hampton is now the site of something called Fusion Express which appears to be Thai food. Has anyone eaten there? Let us know in the comments.
Finally, next week is Long Island Restaurant Week. For $27.95, enjoy a three-course prix fixe dinner. Not that many Hamptons places are participating; two that are include Topping Rose House and the Living Room at c/o the Maidstone. On the North Fork, some notable choices include Noah's, Jedediah Hawkins, and North Fork Table & Inn.
