Vintage and modern, Southampton to Montauk

Feast your eyes on a variety of home styles--from old-school Shingle Style decorated with antiques to spare modern new builds--and locations from Southampton to Montauk. Each is gorgeous and interesting in its own way. Which would you choose?

This circa-1880 Southampton property boasts lush gardens, a pool, and old-fashioned verandas. Inside, the six-bedroom is filled with quirky vintage items and folk art, yet the marble kitchen is bang up to date. It's available for $165K MD-LD.

Also in Southampton is this more modest Foursquare, which has been recently renovated. With 2200 square feet, there's room to spread out over the summer, and of course there's a heated pool out back. Asking price is $65K for MD-LD.

Heading over to Water Mill, how about a 2005 traditional on Calf Creek? For $475K MD-LD, enjoy the peaceful water views, dock for your motorboat, jet ski, or kayak, pool and spa, and waterside poolhouse with kitchenette and full bath. The house has seven bedrooms, each with access to an outdoor balcony or deck.

Also in Water Mill is a very modern oceanfront pad. Wraparound decks are great for lazing on with a book after an ocean swim or a few laps in the infinity pool, and the four bedroom of course features great views from every room. Price for the summer is $650K.

Another spectacular new build is found in Hither Hills, Montauk, which includes private beach rights. The oceanview upside-down house with five bedrooms is super stylish inside. Outside, there's a heated gunite pool and lounge area with barbecue and firepit. Rental for MD-LD is $250K.
