Tour a Sag Harbor Antique on an Acre Asking $5.75M

New, 3 comments

Exquisitely updated

This late-Victorian house has been beautifully expanded and updated. Set on a generous acre plot, the house is now 5000sf bursting with preserved period charm, including the gingerbread trim outside and the moldings indoors. Particularly noteworthy is the gorgeous new kitchen with Lacanche range and the master suite, with its own balcony, a tiled fireplace (the only bum note in the house), and a white marble bathroom with steam shower and sauna. There are four bedrooms in all, four baths, and two half baths. The lower level, which is walk-out, has been finished as a playroom, mudroom, and storage area.

Since the grounds are so spacious, there's plenty of room out back for stone terraces, a 40' gunite pool with pool house, a separate garage and a spacious parking court. The large porches offer plenty of room for covered dining and relaxation as well.

The one catch with this property is the location. The listing says it's "just a short walk to the village, Otter Pond, and Mashashimuet Park. Just minutes to the beach." The property is even closer to Oakland Cemetery, just across the street. This doesn’t bother us, in fact we think it’s kind of cool (quiet neighborhood) but it will put some buyers off. All in all, we think $5.75M is a fair ask for the place.
