This was an intriguing listing when it hit the market last October: an 1840s barn, south of the highway, which was lived in and used as a studio by artist Sydney Butchkes for 50 years. The 5000sf barn retains many original features, but it needs a lot of work. Enter local boutique builder Debra Simon, who is known for her barn style houses. She fell in love with the barn and property, but told Curbed, "Everything that makes the barn so wonderful makes it cost-prohibitive to work with." It's not sited where a house should go, as well. Debra wants the barn to find another home. She's happy to donate it to a local nonprofit. Failing that, hopefully someone will want the old barnwood to be reused, and if so, she will plan on using parts in her new construction. But the best case would be someone wants to keep this historic barn intact and in use. Interested? Contact Debra at debsimon@hotmail.com.
