First up, top-seeded Amagansett kicked Quogue/East Quogue’s butt good and hard in the first round. Sorry, Quogue: maybe next year we’ll add Quiogue to the mix.
Then, in a hard-fought battle, Westhampton/WHB (8) narrowly defeated Sagaponack (9). There’s always next year, Sagaponack! Next, East Hampton (5) skated past tiny North Haven (12) easily. Oh well, North Haven, you can always console yourself with your beautiful views.
Hampton Bays (4), last year’s winner, handily beat Shelter Island (13). The next hurdle for Hampton Bays is East Hampton next week.
In a surprise upset, EH Northwest (14) defeated mighty Montauk (3). Is the Northwest becoming more popular or is Montauk suffering a backlash?
Perennially popular Bridgehampton (6) defeated neighboring Wainscott (11), and will face off against EH Northwest next week.
Poor old Southampton (7) never seems to get enough love, losing to Water Mill (10) in the first round. Better luck next year, Southampton.
And with the widest margin of victory this year, Sag Harbor (2) beat Springs (15). Is this Sag Harbor’s year again?
Curbed Cup fever: catch it next week!
