$100K is needed to restore Stargazer

Sculpture is damaged

For 25 years now, Stargazer has served as a welcome to the Hamptons sign for travelers heading south through Manorville. Created by sculptor Linda Scott, the 50-foot artwork of a deer gazing skyward is currently in poor shape. Scott’s partner David Morris explained to Dan’s Papers that lightning had struck the structure, which allowed water to get inside the acrylic stucco and wood interior, making it deteriorate. It needs a completely new wooden frame over the steel frame and concrete base. He told Dan’s, “When I redo it, it will last 50 years at least.” What’s needed is money, about $100,000. Morris is hoping local businesses and individuals step up to save the sculpture. If interested, you can give at the link below.
