What you can buy in the Hamptons for $1.5M

Properties for sale in Montauk, East Hampton, Shinnecock, and more

Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what you can buy for a set dollar amount in various Hamptons towns. Is one person's studio another person's palace? Let's find out! Today's price: $1.5M.

↑ It’s not surprising that many of our choices this week are in contract, as in this Hither Hills, Montauk, property, as they’re appealing and yet "affordable," as far as the Hamptons go. This four bedroom traditional is also slightly lower in price than the rest at $1.39M; with its handsome looks and sought-after location, it’s not surprising it was snapped up. There’s 2143 square feet of space on a 0.17 acre plot.

↑ This property offers 0.6 of an acre right on Three Mile Harbor in East Hampton. There’s currently a 1500 square foot two bedroom cottage, but the listing didn’t even bother to picture it. Most importantly, the property (in contract) is "Deeded for a 60′ floating or fixed dock!"

↑ Also great for boaters is this Shelter Island property, which is available with a separate quarter acre lot with a dock with power and water. The property itself is 1.5 acres with a main house with four bedrooms, a guest house with two bedrooms, and a "boat barn has a three-ton hoist, concrete slab floors, workbench shop." There’s also an apple orchard, cutting garden and hosta garden.

↑ This Shinnecock cottage is petite at 1200 square feet, but it’s bayfront and lovely. The plot is also small at .12 of an acre, but beautifully landscaped with its own sandy beach and a deck for relaxing. The updated house offers lovely views from every room.

↑ Just over two acres of land off Hands Creek Road in East Hampton is the setting for this four-bedroom cape. The cottage could use some updates, but is basically fine as is; and the pool out back is surrounded by a large deck. Landscaping hides the house from the road, making for a peaceful and private getaway.
