Southampton Hospital wants new ER on Pantigo Place, East Hampton

Less traveling time

Good news, sick Montauk residents: in future you’ll be able to make it to the ER in under an hour! With traffic worsening on the South Fork, the location of the closest hospital ER, in Southampton, is becoming untenable for many living in East Hampton Town. A new ER is proposed by Southampton Hospital to be built on 4.5 acres of current Little League ballfield at 400 Pantigo Place, East Hampton. Another site being considered is in Wainscott, by the former Child Development Center of the Hamptons. That site is larger, but farther away from points east.

The next step is to apply to the state for a permit. The plans call for a 54,000 square foot building including, according to the East Hampton Star, “an emergency room, treatment rooms, patient beds, and waiting rooms, as well as an imaging center, lab, and offices for primary care doctors and specialists.” The cost is estimated at $35M to $45M.
