Two stunning properties sell super quickly, close to ask

Amagansett and Montauk

We were crazy about both these properties, in different ways, and so were other people, as they’ve both sold within weeks, for close to their full asks. First up is this stunner on Indian Wells Highway in Amagansett.

There’s an original 1896 farmhouse with four bedrooms, a two-bedroom guest cottage, and a garage used as a gameroom/pool house. All the fixtures and fittings used are high-end, including smart home technology, and everything is bright, fresh clean, and appealing. Outside, there’s a saline, gunite pool with sun deck and waterfall, bluestone patios, and an outdoor fireplace with an all weather outdoor TV. In all, there’s 7000 square feet of space with 7 bedrooms and 6.5 baths set on just over half an acre.

Asking price was $5.5M, and sales price was $5.1M. Well done!

The other property was this 60s house in Ditch Plains, Montauk. As a time capsule goes, the place was absolutely perfect: from the terrazzo flooring, to the swag lamps, to the brown appliances, to the gorgeous pink bathroom. Swivel chairs! Pole lamps! A cocktail cabinet!

Of course the house is small: it’s 1200 square feet with two bedrooms, complete with original bedspreads, and that pink bathroom. Plot size is fairly standard for Ditch at 0.19 of an acre.

The asking price for this property was $999K, and the buyers paid $990K. We’ve asked the agent if the buyer plans to keep or rebuild; as soon as we hear back we’ll update you.
