This oceanfront house, most famous for its tenants of two summers Bill and Hillary Clinton, has been on the market at various prices as long as this blog has been around. Back in 2009, the asking price was a mere $25M; it went down to $20M back in 2012, and more recently it was up to $32.5M. We'll be interested to find out what it closes for.
Owned by real estate bigwig Elie Hirschfeld, the house, done in an Arts-and-Crafts-meets-Swiss-chalet style, was designed and built in 1920 by John Custis Lawrence and was renovated in 2002. The place is 10,000sf, with 1.2 acres of land and 200 feet of oceanfront. Naturally, there are stunning ocean views in almost every room, along with 8 bedrooms, 7.5 baths, 5 fireplaces, a "large living salon" for those spirited political debates, and a 20' x 40' heated gunite pool. Congrats to the new owners.
