Hey, Look, 'Island In The Sky' is Back on the Market!

New, 10 comments

It's baa-a-a-ck. Setsuo Ito's love letter to the 80s, the house known as "Island in the Sky," is on the market once more. The property, featured in a Notorious B.I.G. video (as with all the best Hamptons estates), was put on the market back in 2007 for a humorous $30M. It was eventually listed for $9.9M in 2011, before selling for a rather shocking $3M in September that year. Then it was put back on the market in 2012 for $10.975M. It did not sell then, possibly because a requirement of the previous sale is that the home cannot be torn down.

Supposedly, the new owner was going to renovate the place, although the latest photos are so skimpy, who knows? The latest asking price is $8.495M, which includes the 12,000sf house, nine acres of land set at "the highest elevation in the Hamptons," the weirdly shaped pool, and that 32-foot tall pyramid.
