Here Now, the Meadow Lane House from the New Showtime Series Billions

New, 16 comments

Of course Showtime's new series about a billionaire hedge fund manager has to involve a Hamptons home in some way. Hedgie Bobby Axelrod, played by Damian Lewis, is being pursued by a US Attorney (Paul Giamatti) on a mission to prosecute him. In the first episode (available to stream now), Axelrod's purchase of this Meadow Lane house for $63M is the impetus for the investigation. (Well, it is known as Billionaire Lane, after all.)

We wrote about 1610 Meadow Lane back in 2012 when its owners, media executive Michael Loeb and his wife, Margie, offered the 18,000sf house as a July rental for $275,000. The couple paid $21M for the nine-acre spread in 2003 and then built the house after that. It boasts 12 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, two media rooms, pool and tennis, an attached guest house, and all the other normal fixings. A children's play area includes a playhouse version of the main house and a zip line, which is pretty cool.

Our take? $63M is probably a fair price for nine acres on Meadow Lane. In the show, Lara Axelrod (Malin Akerman) says she loves the house after Bobby buys it, but we bet that in real life, the Axelrods would knock the house down and rebuild, because that's what hedgies do. (Besides, the house looks pretty dated.) They don't want someone else's house: they want their own.
