Cottage Point is a 4.2 acre oceanfront property in the Montauk bluffs. It was designed 20 years ago by Francis Fleetwood in the style of Stanford White; after all, the famous Montauk Association houses designed by McKim, Meade and White are right next door. (Can we borrow a cup of sugar, Mr. Cavett?) The landscaping was done in the style of Frederick Law Olmsted, who did the site plan for the Montauk Association.
Cottage Point is itself surrounded by agricultural reserve. There is 6000sf of living space with six bedrooms, including a master with an oceanview tub. We'd sure like to see the interior, which apparently boasts 100-year-old wide plank floors. The lower level is finished with a billiards room and bar. Of course there's an oceanview infinity edge pool.
As for the price, hm. It would be hard to beat the privacy and quiet of this oceanfront property, yet if we were spending $50M on oceanfront, we'd prefer a sandy beach where we could actually swim. Guess we'll see if someone bites.
